    Don’t buy this DVD player.

We bought this DVD player less than 6 months ago. It has been used less than 10 times and always stored safely in it’s bag. While watching a movie, suddenly the color in the picture became very distorted. We e-mailed cyberhome and they said the DVD player only had a 90 day warranty. If we want it fixed, they said to mail it to them (at our cost) and it will cost us $100 to fix. We should get it back in around 6 weeks. No thank you

We have exchanged this dvd player for the THIRD TIME. Every time there seems to be some sort of problem with the monitor. The dvd will play for a short while then it will suddenly shut off. Cyberhome should recall this dvd player. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE HAVE MADE — DO NOT PURCHASE THIS DVD PLAYER!!

    What a headache!
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This product has been one headache after another. First, the monitor didn’t work at all. After I exchanged it, the new DVD player had a battery that didn’t work. When I tried to contact CyberHome about the problem, I didn’t get a response. Do yourself a favor and get a different DVD player.

    Been great for me

I admit I was a bit leary after reading the reviews here. But with the features I wanted (video/audio in (for grandkids battery video games to use in the car), VCD, MP3 and JPG)plus a nice case I had to try this. Sooo I used it a lot in the first two weeks (daily one or more times). Used with battery and with AC. I recommend reading battery info at Cyberhomes web site, you cannot leave the battery in this unit for more than a day as it does drain because it powers the unit all the time even if it appears to be off (it powers the infrared receiver waiting for you to use the remote). -Read about Li-Ion batteries charging and discharging- You also need to remove the battery when using AC or Car adapter (they could have done a better job electronically here). Anyway, The picture is very good, even with having to adjust it’s LCD mode for a regular TV picture as opposed to Wide Screen. Using the unit on battery and an external monitor/TV I got 3+ hours. Yes, I compared it to several other players, kept coming back to this ones abilities. My take, try one out, check reviews at other sites, if it breaks in the first couple weeks take it back to Target.

Do not buy this horrible product. I got this as a present, and I was thrilled to get it. I try to use it in the car, and it will freeze and the screen will go black all the time. The battery also holds a charge horribly. I can not stand this product. I am happy that someone bought me one of these, but I wish they had bought a different brand.

    Big Disappointment
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Please stay away from this DVD player! I was attracted to its price, progressive scan, and included case that turns into a car converter, but the good things ended there.

I had two of these units (I exchanged one after one day of use) and neither even came close to working properly. The battery does not hold a charge (and removing it every time it is not in use is a major pain), the sound and video was often out of synch, black and flickering screen, and poor quality buttons that are unresponsive.

It’s unfortunate that this player has such terrible build quality because it does have a very nice picture for the price. The list of problems and issues make it impossible for me to reccomend it to anyone though.

We’ve had my 7-year-old daughter’s portable DVD player since July ’04 and it works fine. It gets pretty regular use, mostly using the power cord or the car adapter. We get several hours of playing time with the battery. You do have to follow the directions and remove the battery when you’re not using it or the charge will drain. The sound volume through the speakers is okay, but the quality isn’t great. Much better through headphones, which is usually how she uses it anyway.

    Total Waste of Money!!!
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
We bought this at Christmas time on sale and have used it very carefully for less than 10 times and suddenly the screen will not come on. I contacted Cyberhome and they made a couple suggestions which did not work. Now they want me to send it in and pay for repair. A total waste of money and quality. Shame on you Cyberhome! Save your money and invest on a quality name and product!

The biggest heap of trash I’ve ever bought, and I fell for it and bought two. We bought one from Walmart, (I live in the Dominican Republic) and when that packed in after about two months and after playing about 6 DVDs, I asked a friend who was coming over to get me another one of the same model, so I could use the accessories whilst getting the other one fixed. It seems they had ‘upgraded’ (that’s a laugh) the new one so none of the old bits (including a spare battery) worked. The second one came from K-Mart, and is a bigger load of crap than the first one. After charging the battery as instructed, it lasted exactly 10 minutes. This company should be closed down selling junk to innocent consumers. After looking at reviews on the net, the company must be aware of the tat they are selling. Who the hell do they think they are.

I should have read these reviews before buying. My dvd player has problems reading the disk and what makes me mad is that I have changed it 3 times. I was going to call CyberHome and I read the other reviews and I know it will be a waste of my time. Now I have to purchase another one and this time I will read reviews first. No more cyberhome for me!

    So Far, So Good!

I also bought this Portable DVD Player on sale around Christmas time in 2004. We have only used it maybe 5 times in the car on trips. So far it has been working great! It is easy to set up and use. I got the one with the Deluxe Carrying Case included. We love it.

    All in all, pretty good!
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
When I first set out to do a review of this DVD player, I was fully prepared to give it 5 stars. But as I was reading some of the other reviews, I was thinking, “Oh yeah, that happened to me too!” But the thing is, it’s worth it!

I got the player from Target and it didn’t work at all. Brought it straight back and they gave us a new one. It worked for over a year with only the occasional problem. When the screen goes black, like others have complained, it’s because it is out of batteries. You have to wait until the sound goes out, then plug it back in. That is my only complaint- the supposed “2.5 Hour Charge?” Total crap. But with me, I always had it plugged in, whether it was at my house or in the car, so it didn’t matter.

I have no doubt in my mind that the player would still be working if I hadn’t made a mistake- I was carrying it while it was plugged in. I dropped it right on the plug, causing the hole where the plug is to become misshapen. Now, the plug hangs low in the hole so the player doesn’t get power. I can rig it to work but it takes a while, and really, why bother?

All in all, I would recommend this product. Customer service is great, although I would advise you to get a warranty. These cheap products can be flighty. Hope I helped.

this is a huge and disappointing piece of junk. i’ve bought tons of consumer electronics products, including some from cyberhome, but have never purchased a lower quality, cheap, chinsy product ever.

read the reviews…do not buy this product.

Would and HAVE recommended to friends
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have had my player for over a year and LOVE it. I use it while commuting on the bus to work, on planes, in the car for my daughter and have even used it at friends houses that don’t have DVD players. It has a great screen. The other (and usually more expensive) players would have a faded look to the screen if you looked at it from the side, this one doesn’t fade away, so my daughter and I can both see it no matter which angle we are looking from! I will admit, there have been times that I wish I could make the volume go up more, but overall I love this item. I have dropped it twice (quite hard by the way) and it still works. I will admit that when I purchased my first one, they gave me a dud, so maybe not all of them are perfect. But hang in there, just get it replaced or fix it if you are having problems. This is the best item and didn’t cost a gazillion dollars.

Not the greatest, but it does the job
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
We bought this little portable widescreen DVD player with only one purpose: helping keep our son entertained during the long plane trip abroad and back that was ahead of us in our last vacation. Granted that the 2.5 hours the battery lasts will make this more of a “last resource” rather than something you will want to use all through a flight (also, you may want to reconsider your parenting skills if you were thinking of doing that, anyway!) this portable unit works just fine.

The only “trick” we found it had was the way it got charged. You cannot charge it while a movie plays: it needs to be completely off (meaning with the screen shut AND turned off). Other than that, while not the most robust piece of electronics in our house, we’re satisfied with the job it’s done (so far). Would I recommend it? Well, just consider the price: if you are shopping around and you are shooting for the $150 range, at the time of this writing, this player is about the best thing you can get.

BUYER BEWARE! STOP and read before you buy!
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
We bought two cyberhome DVD players for our children to watch movies for our 8 hour drive to see family. My son’s broke within days, the screen went black. Not because the battery pack was drained because it was plugged into the car. Returned that one a got another one. Again, the screen went black. Cyberhome was of NO USE at all. Finally got one that worked for more than 2 movies and my daughters broke. Not dealing with this company or product anymore, refuse to give them anymore of our money. We will purchase a Sony or other name brand BUT will definitly check customer comments before buying.

    UPDATE 12/12/06

Cyberhome the company got out of the electronics business, particularly the cheap DVD player business a few months ago (and this is the reason why their site is not running anymore). You will not get any technical or warranty support for the unit if you purchase one. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

    REVIEW 10/10/06

The player is relatively cheap compared to the branded ones. Works as advertised if you are lucky enough to have a “working unit”.

I bought 2, one each for my two kids. One started to act weird after only a few days of use. The screen would “TURN BLACK” but you would still hear the sound playing. Initially, I thought it was my son who accidentally adjusted the brightness setting or any screen settings for that matter. I spent a good hour or two going through the other working unit and entering the same factory defaults on the other one to no avail. As a last resort, I removed the battery from the unit and placed it back in. That fixed the “BLACK SCREEN” problem temporarily because it would later come back when pressing one of the buttons of the unnit and at the same time tilting the screen (intermitent). So you have to remove the battery all over again to make it work.

If you are stuck with the unit, I would suggest not to move it around when watching a movie. The problem is actually documented on the manufacturer’s web site (not accessible for the past 2-3 weeks that I checked) and the ONLY recommened fix is the same as I what I have described above.

Now my other working unit was fine. WAS in the the sense that the middle pin that plugs into the AC adaptor broke off for some reason. Wanted to get an RMA or something but it would be a miracle to try and get cutomer support from the manufacturer. I can’t find any contact information at the web site at all. No phone numbers, no emails, nothing.

I’ll try to get one from the retailer instead. So if I were you, look for another brand and don’t get stuck with a lemon.

    Stay away from this product

My Cyberhome portable DVD player worked for all of 1 day. It is unable to play DVDs or CDs of any type. Also, if you charge the battery according to manufacturer specs, it will completely drain out within 24 hours.

I attempted to get service from Cyberhome to no avail even though product is still under warranty. Their support number is unreachable as is their support email address. Attempts to locate the company via the web were unsuccessful.

This would have been a great product at a great price if only it had worked.

Purchase at you own risk. Check out the manufacturer web site. You have been warned.
