This is the 4th player I’ve tried, the least expensive, and best screen quality. Easy and dependable.

I got this as a holiday special on amazon and paid $25 for it. I don’t think I would pay much more for it though. The lens got dirty almost right away and it stopped working until I cleaned it off. It works though and does the trick but it’s not that wonderful!

I have two kids, so I spend a lot of time driving and waiting around and, as everyone knows, waiting rooms of any kind are the 7th circle of hell. I got this to play movies etc. I’ve downloaded from the internet. It took a while to figure out the best way of doing that, but now that I have I wouldn’t be without this little toy! It’s incredibly compact and except for the earphones I had to buy, it came with everything else it needed (power sources, remote). I wasn’t expecting hi-def, just something that worked and I think both the audio and video far surpassed what I expected. I use this propped on a stand while I’m walking on the treadmill, and I always carry it with me when I have to take the kids somewhere. For the price, it’s WELL worth it.
Good Over the Long Haul But not Too Long (Review Revised)

I am updating my original review (see below), because after about 8 months it stopped working! Just stopped. Pretty disappointing, as this is the best small DVD player I’ve found, as far as picture and portability goes.
I’ve had this for about six months, and use it about 3 times a week. It’s been a great little player, even at this price. I’ve mostly used it at home, plugged in, but even when using it with the battery it works fine. Battery life is about 2 1/2 hours. The picture is very good, and the toggle from widescreen to pan&scan is a plus, since I watch a combo of new movies and old. I really like that all the “adjustment” controls are mechanical, that is, on the player body rather than brought up on the screen. This makes it easy to pause, arrow back and forth, fast forward or back, and turn a control wheel adjust to brighter or darker screen. It is very lightweight, and I am careful moving it around, so I don’t know how it would do being banged around, dropped, etc. But the light weight is a plus for me since it makes it easy to carry it from room to room as I sometimes do, especially when playing an audiobook CD. The sound tone is pretty good for a portable, with no adjustments except for volume. I haven’t played music on it, but speech is crisp without sounding tinny. I am not a “techie” by any stretch of the imagination, so I am very glad to have found this nice little player my first time out.

I purchased this for my 2 year old daughter so I can have my big TV back. She does not treat it very well and it has help up to all of her abuse without any problems. My only complaint is the brightness adjustment is where I would expect the volume to be so the brightness gets adjusted a lot when I just want to turn it down. Pretty minor problem in my opinion.

I’ve had this DVD player for two years now, and have found it to be reliable, with nice viewing, a decent battery life and pretty durable. We’ve dropped it a few times, and it still works well. I love how it has “anti-shock”, so when riding in the car on a bumpy road, it doesn’t restart. It’s easy to operate, has portals for two headphones, and comes with a remote. Yes, the battery only lasts for two hours or so, but it works well for us. I would definately buy this again!

this is my first portable dvd player. for months i did an online search looking for the best buy for my money. i read several reviews regarding
portable players, and noted complaints about small screens, bad audio, not the sharpest picture, etc, so i was not even sure i wanted to buy one of these type units….however i came across the axion, studied the wonderful reviews and decided to buy it….
WHAT AN AWESOME MACHINE THE AXION IS…..
i am quite comfortable watching the 7″ screen, the picture is clear and sharp, the audio is more than adequate without earphones, keeping in mind that i do not use it on an airplane, have not used the remote yet, but the controls on the unit are very easy to use.
the battery last two hours, most times i use it plugged into a wall outlet anyway. right now i am on vacation with no regular dvd player available, last evening i was able to hook up this axion to the tv and watch the dvds on a larger screen, but keep in mind that to do this you also need an extra cable (the one with the prongs that hook up into the 3 different colors on the TV, dont know what it is called) this cable is not supplied by axion, so have one available to hook up to the tv, the other end (prongs) are hooked up to “the cable axion does supply”.
i have had this unit for a month now, so at this time i cannot attest to longevity of the unit, i will post again at a later date, but i can tell you at this point in time the axion was well worth the money.
UPDATE: have had this machine going on two years, with moderate use, still going strong ( i hope i dont jinx it ), seems item is being discontinued, i did find where Target was still selling it and we bought a second machine last month….if you can still find it, its worth buying it.
Flimsy, short life span

Bought in April, broken by August (stopped reading discs). Even by the standards of these cheap Chinese DVD players, this one was flimsy.
The build quality was suspect — the auto adapter had a very long thin wire instead of thicker, more durable cord. It was impossible to use the car charger with battery backup, so that when you turned off the car, the movie restarted unless you were using battery (and when the battery was dead, you couldn’t switch power sources without restarting the disc).
I had better luck with the Coby.

Overall the its an OK player, but what turned it from a 5 star rating to a 2 is product detail by Amazon. I looked high and low for weeks for a 7″ screen dvd player with hi-resolution which Amazon’s descriptions claims this to be. Under the specification it says the screen is a 720×480 but when I got my player and measured it out, it was only 480×234 at best. Now I know some retailers would describe a 480×234 as 1440×234 to make it look better than it really is, but I purchased this from Amazon thinking they of all people would have the right specs. Lesson learned, can’t trust anyone’s specs.
DVD Player stopped working….

I would NOT recommend purchasing this. The DVD player worked very well for the first few times I used it but probably the 6th time I used it, it cut off to static during the middle of the movie and now will not read any DVDs. It turns on for about 5 seconds and loads as if nothing is wrong then just craps out. With so many options on the market it would be smart to pick another DVD player!!!

i got this dvd player for my mother in law. she has always wanted one. so, this was the first thing that popped in my mind. She told me that she loves it. she watches dvds on this thing all the time. i am happy to know that she is happy about her gift, b/c i wanted to make it the best gift this year.

I use this portable dvd player every saturday and sunday night at my part time security job and it works perfectly. What’s really amazing is I’ve only used the charger maybe three times since I’ve bought it and my battery has never died. I’ve had this item over 8 months and I haven’t experienced any problems yet. I fully recommend the Axion portable dvd player.

Axion AXN6070A 7″ Portable DVD Player
Wanted a good DVD player for our granddaughter in the car. Have had this since Christmas and have been very pleased with it. Picture and sound are both great. We had borrowed a different brand for awhile but the sound on this one is much louder. It has fallen on the floor several times and not even skipped. Don’t know much about battery life since we mainly only use it on the road. I would definitely recommend this product for kids riding in a vehicle.

We bought this as “insurance” in case our son got antsy traveling by plane (which we do a couple times per year). The price was right and we have had zero issues with this DVD player. It has a headphone jack which is great on the plane. The picture and sound are very good. I would definitely recommend this economical option.

Asked again:”Will you be so kind to tell me exactly which formats does it play? There are more than 30 video formats…

I am very pleased with the picture, sound quality, mobility. So far, I have not experienced any problems. It was just what I was looking for.
Update: February 3, 2009. I loved this little thing, used it in my home, not in my car. I was very careful with it. It died last night.
horrible product and company

This product did not work properly out of the box, so I sent it to their service center twice, and every time I received the exact same product I originally bought and it still did not work. Never buy anything from this company because I have read very similar reviews everywhere for all of their products.
