WARNING – not for all iPods with video

If you have one of the newer video iPods (Apple is marketing them with the label “Classics”), they will not work with this product.
Apple has inserted a chip in the 30-pin connector that prevents you from using anything other than Apple’s video connector to push the video out to another screen.
Third party vendors can purchase the technology from Apple to enable this in their products for a price…
So unless you have one of the OLD video iPods from 2-3 years ago, don’t get this product.

This product is great its everything you need in a dvd player. I just got it because of the Ipod connection but when i got it and saw every other type of connection i was very impressed. It has inputoutput, flash drive, photo memory card connections and much more. Very good product at excellet price. Its a steal!!!!
Works fine as a portable DVD player

We bought two of these just to get us to and from our vacation destination in the car with two young children without chaos. They worked fine showing movies. The kids were occupied for hours, with a break now and then to play their gameboys. We did need to keep them plugged into an AC adaptor in the van to keep them from running out of battery along the way, but that was expected. We don’t have IPODs so I’m not sure how useful that feature is to others.

This system does not work with 5th generation 30GB ipods either.
I contacted the company about my problems (the video only showed in black and white) and was told this is “an Apple” issue not theirs. But NO where on the box on on this description does it say not compatible with 5th generation 30GB ipods.

I BOUGHT THIS DVD PLAYER FOR MY HUSBAND AND HE LOVES IT. IN ANOTHER REVIEW I READ THE IPOD ON IT DIDNT PLAY HIS CLASSIC IPOD FROM APPLE, MY HUSBAND HAVES THE SAME ONE AND IT FITS AND PLAYS HIS, HE LOVES THAT FEATURE.HE MAINLY USES IT AT WORK AND HOOKS IT UP TO THE TV AND HE SAYS IT WORKS GREAT.WE HAVE HADE OTHER PORTBLE DVD PLAYERS AND HE SAYS THIS IS THE BEST BUY FAR.

We are really enjoying this unit. We bought it to share pictures with friends and family. It plays DVD movies and music CDs. It is easy to use.
We like being able to take the card from our digital camera and see them in this player.
It is well worth the price and fun to have.

This little DVD player is great. I have the old Ipod so I can hook it up and play the music or the movies on it, and it charges it while it plays. There was some concern about the battery that comes out the back put its really not that bad, we had a polaiod DVD player before and the battery was on the bottom so if you have it in your lap, it tends to get very hot, not with the Audiovox. The battery lasts a long time and i had a Venturer DVD player that quit playing the DVDs, but I could hook up the audio cables to the Audiovox and then have two TV screens for the kids to watch. Easy to use.
Audiovox Goes to Maine

We recently took a road trip to Maine with our two children ages 11 and 14. I purchased 2 Audiovox DVD players and 2 cases that attach to the head rests. It was great! We took quite a few movies with us and the trip went so fast for the kids. They were easy to operate and the bonus was the ipod doc. I recommend these Audiovox DVD players to everyone with kids. They are fabulous. The screen quality is excellent and the sound is too. Oh and the kids love having thier own remotes to operate it. As I always say….happy kids…happy parents! Thank you. Mrs. S. When I decided to purchase a portable DVD player, I wasn’t looking for one that also had an iPod docking station included; I didn’t know that such a thing existed. So when this showed up on Amazon one day, seemingly out of the blue, I was immedeately interested. Furthermore, I’d had good experiences with other Audiovox products in the past (from stereos to cell phones) so, considering the price, I was willing to give this a try.
It’s been well over a month since I received this, and am I not disappointed in the least! Despite some of the less-than-enthusiastic responses here, I have not encountered any problems at all. The picture is very sharp, the sound (with wearing headphones) is crystal clear, and my iPod functions just as well on the player as it does on its own. There is some getting used to changing the settings to making the iPod work, but after a couple of times of usage it becomes a logical step. I even bought the AV chord Amazon offers along with the player to hook up to a TV, but any AV chord should work.
My only gripe-and its a small one- is that the AC adaptor Audiovox supplies is not very durable. After unplugging it from the player, I would gently wrap the chord in a circle to keep organized. After just afew times doing this, however, I’ve found that the chord is fraying in several spots, and could completely disconnect if further used. It’s an easy replacement, as almost any store with an electronics department will carry AC adaptors.
All in all, a great buy!

It wasn’t the first portable DVD player I’ve owned, so I expected something better for $100. The player is very bulky. It’s as thick as a regular 15″ laptop. The battery attaches to the back (not shown on the photos) protruding quite a bit. The display is a low resolution grainy kind. It has also poor colors and contrast. I tried a couple of SD cards. Small 2GB card worked Ok, 8 GB player couldn’t read. Apart from those shortcomings the player works fine.

This player is a good DVD player for the money. We use it on long trips so our daughter can watch movies. I have also used it personally. I bought it because I had an iPod but found it does not work with the 5th
generation iPod. The picture is black and white. I was not too concerned about it because I don’t rent or buy a lot of movies from iTunes. Because of the problems I had with the iPod I rated the product with 4 stars instead of 5.

We bought this DVD player for a long car trip (over 1000 miles) with the hope it would distract our 2 1/2 year old. I was concerned about volume issues that I had read about in previous reviews, so we took little speakers to attach to it. It was a wonderful surprise that we didn’t need the speakers at all. Even with all the car noise, which is considerable with the air conditioner and the engine noise associated with pulling a travel trailer, it was very easy to hear the videos. Our son loved watching his movies and allowed us to travel with relative quiet and to cover more miles per day.
This is a great player it never skipped even on the roughest roads and was easy to use.

I would like to add to the review i previously wrote, about a month later we are not able to get this DVD player to work at all. We have only had it about 6 months and it is dead. DO not buy this DVD player.
We got this DVD play for my daughter to use in the car. It worked fine for a week or two, but then the battery just quit, so now we have to use it plugged in or it will not turn on. Also sometimes the screen gets gray lines through it and I have to turn it off and on until they are gone. I wanted to get one with the ipod dock and this was the least pricey. Now I’m wishing we spent more and got a better one. The dvd player over all is flimsy, the picture is good When it’s working.

We purchased this DVD player for the kids to use during the extensive traveling that we tend to do. It worked really great at first: decent enough quality viewing, good compatibility with our old iPod, the DVD tolerated lots of bumps on the road without skipping, etc, etc. However, it is sort of a low-quality build overall. The hinge on the cheap plastic cover that closes on the DVD itself inevitably snapped off at the hands of our toddlers after just 3 months of use. The DVDs will not play if it senses that the lid is open: we can’t figure out how to over-ride it and trick it into thinking it’s closed, so it’s now use-less. When calling Audiovox to fix this cheap little lid the cost to fix was quoted at $99 plus one-way shipping. Clearly not worth sending in, so now we have to buy another one. Lesson learned: overall, this is not a tough and sturdy player for use by children! Adults only, and gentle at that! But if you aren’t a rough and frequent traveler, it would have otherwise been great!

Works as expected. I use it for my kids to watch iPod videos. The picture could be clearer, but that is more a function of the iPod… Have not tried the DVD player yet, or any other inputs. I have thought of buying a second one, but I would need to buy another Generation 5 iPod Video (anything later, ie. 80GB iPod Video (Generation 5.5 ??) will not play video on this unit)….

Purchased a dvd for a friend for her son who was in the military. Shipping time was awesome, got a good price. My only complaint was there are no ear plugs or head phones for the DVD. Interesting.

The item sent was not what was ordered, sent it back to later find out they were out of stock and that I would have to wait until it was returned before i could get my money back.
My son didn’t get what he wanted for Christmas due to this…. Sooo is there such a product, hmmmmmm ..
